Bow Headband Tutorial
Some ladies at work wanted to learn/relearn how to crochet this week. We had a little crochet lunch and this was the project I brought for the group to work on. It's great project for new crocheters!
You can use any yarn and size hook for this one!
Step one: Make a slip knot. Make enough chains to reach 5 inches across.
Step two: Single crochet into the 3rd chain from your hook. Sc across.
Step three: Single crochet enough rows until you reach 19 inches. Your piece should measure 5 inches by 19 inches. Secure last stitch by slipping end through last stitch and pulling tight. Cut from ball and weave in ends.
Step four: To make the bow cinch piece, make enough chains to reach 2 inches across. Sc into 3rd ch from hook.
Step five: Work enough rows of single crochet to reach 6 inches. Your piece should measure 2 inches by 6 inches. Secure last stitch by slipping end through last stitch and pulling tight. Cut from ball and weave in ends.
Step six: Sew the main headband piece end to end, so you have a circular shape.
Step seven: Wrap the smaller piece around the main headband piece, (covering the seam you just sewed) and sew both ends together.
Step eight: Secure the cinch piece in place by tacking it to the backside of the headband. I also found that sewing a couple of pleats on the reverse side of the headband piece keeps the bow area cinched and cute.
